Dreadnaught Marching Band

The Pride of Dexter

At Dexter High School, students participate in one of three bands based on the results of an audition each spring: Varsity Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. These three outstanding groups combine to make up the Dreadnaught Marching Band. The Marching Band holds Band Camp at Hillsdale College each summer, performs at all home football games, and participates in several annual parades and marching band exhibitions/festivals.

The Color Guard functions as an integral part of the Dreadnaught Marching Band that provides an important visual element. Movement and beginning – intermediate dance fundamentals using flags are the core of the curriculum.  Auditions are open to all Dexter High School students each spring and all are welcome to try out. Students are required to commit to a schedule of rehearsal sessions and performances outside of the school day.
