Over two Saturdays in February, band students from Mill Creek Middle School and Dexter High School participated in the MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Armed with hours of practice, instruments, original scores and supported by accompanists and family, these polished musicians made Dexter proud as they played their prepared pieces before a judge.
Each student or group of students is evaluated by one judge and rated on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the highest rating possible. High school students or groups that earn a rating of 1 (or “Superior”) are qualified for State Solo & Ensemble Festival which is held in March.
Mr. Damman shares, “Every student was able to receive a medal at the festival, and we hope it was a fantastic learning experience for everyone!”
