The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award is named in honor of Jazz Legend Louis Armstrong, who was both an accomplished jazz singer and trumpeter. The award is presented to the student who exhibits outstanding achievement in the field of jazz as demonstrated through superior musicianship, character and individual creativity.
The Patrick S. Gilmore Band Award was introduced in 1994 in honor of the legendary bandmaster and composer. This beautiful award honors outstanding high school band students and their achievements, commitment, and service to the band.
Introduced in 1955 to honor the top student in the high school band, the John Philip Sousa Band Award recognizes superior musicianship and outstanding dedication. The Sousa Award is the pinnacle of achievement in a high school band.
The Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Scholar Instrumentalist Award is given to outstanding musicians who excel both musically and academically. The award is given to a student who has a history of participation and excellence in MSBOA events. Elise earned a perfect score of 100 points on her proficiency 3 oboe solo at State Solo & Ensemble this year!
